Preparing for the Mission
“Preparing for 250 km is not just about the miles. It’s about building the resilience to carry the torch from Normandy to Arnhem. Whether you are an experienced ultra-runner or joining the squad for the first time: the mission requires a solid foundation.
How to prepare your salute for 2026:
- Start the Journey Early: Begin your specific training at least three months before the start in June.
- Strategic Fuel & Rest: Take enough rest during heavy training blocks. Recovery is just as vital as the run itself.
- Build Endurance: Plan long-distance trail runs (±40K, ±50K, ±60K) to get used to the hallowed grounds you will encounter.
- Simulate the Squad Life: Use back-to-back training weekends to simulate the rhythm of a multi-stage mission.
- Protect the Mission: Schedule periodic sports massages or physiotherapy to keep your body ready for the honor of the trail.
Are you unsure about your specific route? Reach out to a professional coach in your country to create a tailor-made plan for your journey.
See you at the start!!
